43% of Pharmaceutical Reps Never Get Past the Receptionist
Help your clients get in the door with PhRMA compliant Marketing Tools
MEDIA, PA December 2, 2003 - Scientific Software Tools,
Inc. (SST), a leading provider of custom applications for the pharmaceutical,
biopharmaceutical and medical device market is pleased to announce the release
of the latest version of the Mobile Lipid Clinic™, the launch of the re-developed
www.mobilelipidclinic.com,
and the introduction of the new SST Alliance Partner program.
Introduced over 3 years ago, the Mobile Lipid Clinic (MLC) was initially
a coronary heart disease (CHD) risk calculator for both the Windows and Palm
platforms. Developed under an educational grant from a major pharmaceutical
company and in co-operation with a well known industry thought leader, MLC grew
to include a complete patient management system, with charts, graphs, suggested
menu plans, medication guides and the complete risk assessment calculations.
These calculations are based on the ATP III guidelines, Framingham Heart Study
and other widely recognized clinical studies.
Used to create market awareness prior to FDA approval for a new treatment,
MLC was distributed at major medical events, PriMed, AHA, ADA, ACC and many
others. Over 70,000 copies were licensed.
International versions have been created, using French and metric units and
MLC is now used in Canada as a post approval sales tool for specialty representatives.
Additionally, http://www.mobilelipidclinic.com
has been launched to add an additional channel of distribution. Visit the website
to download the applications free of charge.
In light of the new PhRMA marketing guidelines and the relative lack of novel
treatments in the development pipelines, many pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical
and medical device companies are seeking unique and interesting ways to deliver
their marketing and educational messages.
The MLC model provides a successful blue print for the creation of market
awareness both pre and post approval for any treatment area where guidelines
or major studies exist.
SST is now seeking to
partner with medical marketing, pharmaceutical marketing and communications
companies to provide this valuable marketing tool. "We have decided to partner
with companies that have existing relationships with brand managers in both
emerging as well as marketed brands in order to accelerate the delivery of this
valuable service. We look forward to partnering with forward thinking medical
marketing and communications companies", explains Elise Furman, President of
Scientific Software Tools.

SST has a non-exclusive agreement with Lipincott Williams and Wilkins (LWW)
to provide ancillary services including; custom hard-copy publications that
compliment and enforce the software, packaging and distribution. Ask your LWW
representative for details.
According to Michael H. Davidson, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P., "Scientific Software
Tools has been an excellent software development partner. I approached them
with a product concept, and within 4 months, they delivered the Mobile Lipid
Clinic, a Palm and Windows-based tool that greatly simplifies patient data collection
and cardiac risk assessment. The software has been a success -- it is widely
distributed at major medical conferences in the US and Canada, is used in clinical
studies for the management of patients with high cholesterol, and has provided
the clinical study sponsor with a key educational and market awareness tool."
Roy Furman, MD, PhD, co-founder of Scientific Software Tools, Inc. explains,
"Dr. Davidson came to us with a concept; combining electronic collection of
clinical data and risk calculation. He is a leading authority in his field.
He founded a clinical research organization (CRO) and has strong relationships
in the industry. These attributes have made him an especially valuable partner.
Using Dr. Davidson's access to an educational grant, we were able to bring his
vision to market. Mobile Lipid Clinic has provided tremendous value to the sponsoring
pharmaceutical company, doctors participating in the study, those involved in
patient education and those whose lives it has probably saved. The potential
to improve medical care is significant using lightweight, easy-to-carry computers
that can educate, motivate, and calculate patients' risks and treatments. Many
other high-impact disease conditions such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension
and stroke represent opportunities for improved clinical care using mobile tools
similar to Mobile Lipid Clinic. We believe that our "unified source" development
process will speed the collection and delivery of vital medical information
for others."
